WHITTAKER (Los Angeles, Ca. USA)

MICRO 16 Année / year 1946
SN 67966 lightly scratched by hand.
This is a cast metal subminiature camera for 16mm film in special cassettes. The film advance teeth are set up for double perf film.
There is a single speed shutter in achromatic doublet f8 lens (some sources indicates f6.3).
It has an aperture selector with 3 settings (bright, dull, color). You can control the picture through a little waist-level finder.
The shutter release is on the front of the camera while the film advance lever is on top. On side there is a frame counter. Seems to be an early Chrome model.
This one is fitted with the sought-after slide-out viewfinder.
Many thanks to my friend Kent, the Pinhole specialist (take a look at the Pinhole Cameras page !).

PIXIE CUSTOM

Année / year c.1949
This is a rare subminiature camera from Whittaker called Pixie Custom.
A 1949 Ad. called it the " Gold-Plated Deluxe Pixie ".
It is made of brown marbelized plastic with gold-plated metal parts. Marked Whittaker Micro 16 Pixie on top.
F6,3 Microtar lens in single speed rotary shutter (1/50 sec).
Fixed focus from 90cm (3ft) to infinity.
Three f-stop settings : bright=f16, dull=f8, and color=f6,3 which were changed with a finger-nail tab on the front of the camera.
Very uncommon variation of the classic black model.
The last picture shown is from a slight different version marked "Custom Pixie" on top instead of "Pixie".

WELTA kamera-werke (Freital, Germany)

PERFEKTA Année / year c.1934
SN 5054377 .  Taking lens 1692129, viewing lens 831278
What an unusual design for this rare folding camera !
Unusual in that it's a TLR camera that has the unique ability to fold into a more compact package using bellows and pivots.
The camera folds on struts (for compact carrying ?).
Takes 6 x 6 cm pictures on 120 rollfilm.
Tessar f3.8/75mm lens in Compur shutter from 1 sec to 1/500 sec, T and B. Viewing lens is a Weltaskop f.3.8/75mm.
Focusing from 1,5 m to infinity. Diaphragm adjustment f3.5, f4, f5.6, f8, f11, f16, f22. Counter/reset provision. Tripod socket.
Welta embossed on back ; This camera doesn't have the Welta name plate on front like the other models I've seen, it seems however original. May be missing but I'm unsure as the blank plate in its place seems unmodified :  could be an earlier model ?
There is a model called Superfekta which takes 6 x 9 cm pictures and has a pivoting back for taking horizontal pictures.
